Outdoor learning, storytelling and adventure for children aged 6–10
Book a Free TasterForest Lights is a small English-speaking forest group in Basel for children aged 6–10. We explore, create, and learn together in nature — building confidence, curiosity, and a deep connection with the natural world.
Each session is different, shaped by the season and the children's curiosity. But these elements are always part of our afternoons together:
Shared storytelling sessions spark language development and a love of good stories — told in the heart of the forest.
Seasonal craft activities inspired by the rhythms of nature — from autumn leaf creations to spring flower pressing.
Identifying trees, understanding wildlife, basic bushcraft — learning new practical skills hands-on every week.
Snacks and lunch together in the forest
English immersion through stories
Teamwork and critical thinking
Building resilience and confidence
Valuing and protecting our planet
Growing up in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, I learned early the magic and wonder of the natural world. I created Forest Lights so children can experience that same sense of freedom, discovery, and connection — and so families can be part of a community that values and protects our planet.
With an MA in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh and a PGCE from the Institute of Education in London, I've taught English for over 8 years across South Korea, England, and Switzerland.
